Memorial Day weekend is an opportunity to enjoy some of your favorite warm-weather pastimes, or embark on a weekend getaway from the city, you happen to be sticking around Chicago, you won’t have to look far to find activities to fill the three-day weekend.
-The Chicago Memorial Day Parade is held on Saturday, May 26. The parade begins with a wreath-laying ceremony in Daley Plaza at 11am, then steps off from State and Lake Streets at noon.
-Spend some time soaking up the sun at Oak Street, Montrose, and North Ave Beach.
– Head over to Navy Pier Saturday night at 10:15pm for the first firework show of the summer season.
– Browse for hidden treasure at Randolph Street Market. Kick off the summer season with the opening of the outdoor portion of the monthly antiques market. This event is filled with lively activities for all ages. Kids under 12 are always free, but check out the family package to score a drink for you and your partner and snacks for the kiddos.
– Join a neighbor’s BBQ, or have your own!
– Pig out at the Red, White and BBQ fest, Nothing screams Memorial Day more than a BBQ, so why not go all out and head to this barbecue fest and competition in Westmont? You can chow down on the food, kids can have a blast at the carnival, and everyone can jam along with the live music.
